Our Story

The silence in the small rescue office was thick, weighted by the sheer magnitude of the work accomplished and the cruelty that necessitated it. July 2026 marked a staggering milestone: almost 2900 animals helped.

Forever homes have been found for 2,188 kitties and dogs as of 7/19/26. Our Community Service program helped 693 kitties and dogs remain in their homes, preventing owners from having to make the heart-wrenching decision to surrender them. Our Community Service program provides food, litter, medicine and surgeries as funds allow. This program also provides food to county shelters and feral colonies.

We are often the ONLY and LAST HOPE for cats declined by other organizations and even public shelters. Contrary to popular belief, public shelters can turn down healthy animals if they are full. We first focus on pulling adoptable cats and kittens who are OUT OF TIME at public shelters, as those shelters must euthanize them when they run out of space. They are also often forced to euthanize cats and kittens with treatable medical issues such as dental needs, ringworm, respiratory infections and broken limbs unless we step in to take the animal. We also focus on pets left behind when their owner passes away and their families refuse to keep them. Then we help strays and owner surrenders as space and funds permit.

We focus on animals refused by all other area organizations, making Beare Garden their last chance to live. All they want is to be healthy and loved. The cruelty, neglect and abuse we sometimes see is heartbreaking which fuels our strong determination to stand in the gap and help these wonderful creatures reach safety, receive medical care and find their forever homes.
