Our Organization and Mission Statement
Beare Garden Animal Rescue’s mission is to ease the pain, hunger, abuse, as well as to provide shelter and help to find forever homes for the creatures God entrusted to us. By acting as a resource and educating the community about issues pertaining to animals, we feel that we can move toward the prevention of over breeding of animals. By facilitating adoptions of homeless and neglected cats and kittens we will be able to provide a short-term home for more unwanted or homeless cats and kittens.

We are a NO KILL SHELTER! All animals are given the highest quality veterinary care available regardless of their condition. The percentage saved this year is lower due to the regional widespread explosion of deadly Panleukopenia, which is usually not treatable, though we saved several that were deemed beyond help.Our live intakes for 2022 were 392. Thirty Nine passed due to a regional outbreak of Panleukopenia, which impacted many shelters, terminal illness or injuries sustained before coming to us.
Our FORMULA (392-39)/392=.90 or 90% Save Rate. A number of those lost were kittens from feral moms that were sick or passed at birth. Since we take in those complex cases that other rescues and shelters will not, we are very proud of our 90% Save Rate! NO animal is ever euthanized unless they are suffering due to medical reasons that cannot be remedied by even the best and most advanced care. |
Puck was born along with five siblings with leg and skull deformities in our community. We received a plea to take the litter. All immediately went into 24 hour hospital care. Several passed quickly due to their severe deformities. Others passed shortly after. Puck was a fighter even with the unexplained recurrent seizures. We thought was doing great and he was. After showing considerable improvement, he went into a loving foster home. Things started to decline after several weeks and Puck was taken to our local vet and sent straight to NC State Veterinary Hospital for emergency care. He was being stabilized several days in ICU to prepare for HIGH RiSK surgery to correct a rare liver disorder that would be deadly without surgery. His chronic seizures worsened and he did not make it to surgery. His foster was with him when he crossed the rainbow bridge. We couldn't save him, but he had a chance and knew love.
